Tête à Tête is my invitation to a conversation that does not end when the music stops.

Throughout my journey, I have used music to speak about the lives we lead, the choices we make, and the future every generation owes to the next. This album brings those reflections into one space — a monologue by Africa about identity, responsibility, accountability, struggle, and hope.

The title captures the spirit of the project. A tête-à-tête is an intimate conversation, but the questions at the heart of this album belong to all of us. What questions are we prepared to ask our authorities — and ourselves? How do we respond to the challenges around us while holding on to hope in the face of desolation? Each song contributes its own voice to this wider conversation.

“Leadership,” my collaboration with Nigerian artist Patoranking, is one part of that story. Together, we examine the weight of leadership and the responsibility that comes with influence. The music video, filmed in Lagos and directed by Shawn Ray (Raffael), gives the song a visual form and carries our conversation beyond borders.

At its heart, Tête à Tête is an expression of why I continue to make music. I want my music to move people, but also to create space for listening, reflection, and honest exchange.

This album asks us to confront difficult questions together while recognising that the future we seek begins with the choices we make today.
