The only thing that will improve governance in Nigeria is when there is a serious cost to those who run the nation to the ground. As long as majority of Nigerians continue to adjust to and accept every manner of misrule, corrupt and mediocre leaders will continue to not only sit tight, but also continue to thrive. The system is already rigged and programed for them. That was how a rejected APC subverted the will of the people in 2019 and have continued to do so ever since using govt institutions.

If Donald J Trump doesn't give a damn about Nigeria, he will now do with the subtle message sent by Nigeria's invasion of hapless Benin Republic with guns-a-blazing in hot pursuit of the coupists. Hahaha! Hahaha!!

Perhaps, Donald J Trump will now reassess his strategy and come up with a plan-B. Invading Nigeria with just guns-a-blazing might not be fast, vicious and sweet, after all. There might be a need to up the ante with gun-boats as with Venezuela. Pray this doesn't happen!!

Secondly, if Nigeria has the capacity to respond to a "distress call" by a neighboring country in real time but cannot deal with ragtag terror-groups unleashing mayhem on the citizenry and undermining the security of the country for 15 years and still counting, then, it is really a "disgraced country" that needed fast and vicious intervention.

Blame the US including Russia and other meddling interlopers as you find convenient, the truth remains African leaders, especially, down Sahara have failed abysmally in managing human and material resources endowed to them by providence. One of the worst variants of the African leaders is the one currently presiding over Nigeria!

For Nigeria, we've had leaders who repeatedly moved in reverse gear while they were supposed to move forward. Worst of all, they continually deluded themselves believing they were making progress because they had sycophantic but equally deluded bystanders appluading every of their efforts in retrogression.

And, I dare ask; exactly what has the US Foreign Policy Direction or whether Trump gives a damn about Africa or not got to do with the current state of insecurity in Nigeria, that those elected to protect the lives and property of the citizenry are complacent, incompetent and complicit?

Do we need Donald J Trump to start jettisoning Nigerians out of the "US Lifeboat" before we know who gave orders for withdrawal of soldiers at GGCSS Maga, #MagaGate, before 25 girls were abducted and the VP killed by bandits??

Segun, it's quite a shame you took your readers into this voyage of distraction while failing to address the issues as it should be. You knew the problems facing Nigeria has nothing to do with how Donald J Trump and the right-wing politicians feel. Nigerians have a habit of running to where they believe that the pasture is greener. As you are about to board a flight from Nigeria to many cities in Europe and the U.S. you cannot but notice the line of wheelchairs occupied by infirm Nigerians who are leaving the country for medical treatment. Which is their answer to Nigeria's deplorable health system

Before every general election, Nigerians who have dual citizenship, make sure that they leave the country just in case the general elections leads to chaos. Which is their answer to electoral reform

Wealthy Nigerians may always have access to good things in Nigeria and abroad. But the lot of poor Nigerians who are thinking of migrating to Europe or the U.S. is about to change by AI. People who know these things have posited that in less than 10 years there will be millions of Robots in the West (at the cost of no more than a car) cleaning, cooking, gardening, driving, providing homecare, etc, for people that own them
