with lots of empty promises taken too far.
But as a matter of fact, after over 2 years he took over the Presidency,he has not effected any visible change from
where his Predecessor, the late Muhammadu Buhari, did leave off for him.
Ours still remains a cesspit and a failed Banana Republic of a country, in which man's innate depravity has indeed found
expression with utter disregard for the sanctity of precious human lives, just the way President Buhari left it.
President Tinubu must be compelled to harken to the appeals of our Nigerian Patriots.
There must be an end to our current Kleptocratic System of Goverrnment, which is so corrupt and indeed very expensive too.
Our country must be returned to the good old Parliarmentray System of our Noble Founding Fathers and of course, with
our 1963 Constitution.
Enough is enopugh ojare!
Nigeria We Hail Thee.Lol!!

And whereas you are deliberately & desperately preferring to live in denial (as is characteristic) because of your parochial interests, the import was lost on you that you still confirmed what she said in the process, i.e., by you claiming that "[T]he elephant in the room is leadership at practically all levels and in all spheres". And if it is, then it negates your later "intellectualist, politically correct & deceitful statement about the problem being a "shared responsibility".

Nigeria happened to her! It happened to her in the fact that the government (leadership, that is) could not provide her security. It happened in the fact that the police could not take her to the hospital after arriving "later" at the scene, citing no fuel. It happened to her in the fact that the politicians cannot provide job, which triggers armed robbery. It happened to her in the fact that doctors refused to treat her when she was eventually brought there. The leadership divert the the commonwealth instead into private pockets. And rather than find courage & sincerity to criticize & hold them accountable as journalists, we keep quiet & even defend the criminals out of a sense of tribal solidarity & loyalty. We keep quiet over, & defend their unprecedented nepotism, their stupefying incompetence, failures & cluelessness, and over their monumental corruption.

But of course you, Mr Sarah, know the problem is even bigger than leadership. But you dare not acknowledge it even after admitting it in snippets several contexts. You have said on this forum that the present (36 state) structure & sharing mentality is unsustainable. You said so in "Power, Politics & Death". Still you have to defend that same system out of your inhibitions. You prefer to perish in hell provided some people perish along. You know NOTHING will come out of this route other than DARKNESS. And you know Nigeria is irretrievably sinking into it!

Need we say anything more about what has happened to Nigeria since 1966 when we abandoned the competitive regional system of federalism that made grow to head and shoulder taller and faster than all its peers including Cyprus and today's Asian Tigers. You guys can keep deceiving regular people that the country can grow and prosper under the beggar-thy-neighbor-feeding-bottle unitary rule that soldiers and their civilian friends substituted to replace the negotiated federalism they violated. Keep on collating, sharing and consuming rent every month, keep rejecting transparency and accountability, keep ignoring merit, skills and competency in favor of geography, nepotism and mediocrity – and of course, keep preaching prayers and outsourcing duties to some gods – while waiting for the miracle of growth and development to happen. Fact – Self-deceit never developed any country.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
That is the key.

Nigeria can be a very enjoyable place, especially for people that have the disposable income to buy what they want, like the amala referenced by Adeniyi in the second part of his essay. But there are also a lot of sad stories in Nigeria many of which are avoidable.

One of such avoidable sad stories was captured on a video that was trending last week, during the Lagos flood. While it was raining cats and dogs, this young girl (who was no more than a teenager) was precariously perched on a sandy mound that was surrounded by rapidly flowing water. A crowd of people gathered several feet away from her on dry land. While some were taking videos of her and others were just watching her, this equally young boy inadvisedly threw her a flimsy rope, that was no more than ⅛ of an inch thick, in a futile attempt to rescue the young girl. As she lounged for the flimsy rope, she fell short, and fell into the rapidly flowing water, which carried her away to her demise. May she continue to rest in peace.

That incident appeared to be avoidable. Since it is reasonably certain that there will be flood in Lagos every year, Lagos Government, and civil society, have to prepare people for this event by telling them to stay at home. They should also buy hundreds of boats and kayaks🛶, as well as hundreds of ring buoys🛟, to recue people who inadvertently get trapped in flooded areas
