The political class have made it possible that many poor Nigerian voters gave their votes away to the highest bidders. Some of these politicians only got their way through because they were able to buy the votes. After buying the votes and they have gotten to the seats, the next items on their agendas will be using every available opportunity to maintain their seats. They are now regarded as honorable with emphasize on the outcome and not in the process on how they got there. Maybe they were unable to speak to the voters directly to elicit from them what they would have wished to be done for them. I don't believe that these politicians were able to put in place their manifestoes for the voters to know where their votes were going to. In many areas in the country sides, it was the philosophy of "carry go" with the power of the gun. The ballot boxes will be snatched by their supporters of the politicians and in the middle of the night, the election results were released in their favors, and the winners will be the ones who benefitted from this quagmire will be the ones who indulged in vote buying. This seems to be the reason why these so-called senators do not know their lefts from their rights. I hope the media should be able to focus more on the developmental strides for Nigerians, and not on Apoti-Uduaghan and Akpabio saga. The Nigerian Senate, under Senator Akpabio’s leadership, should remain focused on its constitutional mandate: to promote legislative excellence, safeguard democratic values, and deliver meaningful progress for the Nigerian people.” Nigerian politicians may have to go back to school to learn about their duties and responsibilities. People have a right for their private lives and these discussions should not be for the public consumption.
