The challenge for African leaders is to provide an enabling environment for democracy to thrive, for good governance, and for building trust with the people. And when it is election time, to allow the people to make their choice.

To his credit, this was the culture Jonathan wanted to cultivate before he was eclipsed by criminals & ethnic champions like Tinubu & company

Between the two countries, there seems to be an emerging realization that the people’s will, whatever may be the circumstances, must be respected.

You know too well that this is not true. The criminals who hijacked power in 2015 have made no pretense to the fact that they are criminals. Free & fair elections or democracy is no priority or concern of the Tinubu hounds just as it was not of Buhari before him. They have resorted to the most crude, base & barbaric form of politics. As Ghana is making progress, please do not tar their good image by tying them with Nigeria

The onus is on President Tinubu and the APC not to unwittingly invoke a nostalgia for either President Jonathan and/or the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) among Nigerians.

Just like the Yoruba press did for Buhari while his ruinous legacy lasted! Tell me: what more can Tinubu do to become a bad leader unworthy of a second term?

HOW CAN PEOPLE PROTECT THEIR VOTES?

At least in the Nigerian context, there are only two conceivable ways through which that could happen: (i) one is for the press to stand for the truth & hold the government accountable on behalf of the people. But unfortunately the Nigerian press is too tribalistic & only fights their ethnic interests. (ii) The second is by pouring into the streets for mass protest. But Nigeria is too divided to unite to protest for a common cause!
