In the face of Tinubu's unprecedent nepotism (in fact I would prefer to call itunconsciounable "glutony") he is inventing a national anthem that says "though tribe & tongue differs". That is the bared faced hypocirisy that defines APC & the ronu clan. In the face of the fact that nigerian students can no longer study abroad because of unaffordability (https://africa.businessinsider.com/local/markets/economic-crises-in-nigeria-spur-bankruptcy-in-uk-universities/rdf4pgv), preoccupying with a new anthem is a mark of crim1nal misplacement of priority.

The development is quite sad to be honest . It’s a huge sign of thoughtlessness , arbitrariness and dictatorship.

A very low priority issue for a country under siege .
Reverting to the old foreign written national anthem that contains words like “ tribes and tongues “ depicts the NASS as thoughtless . The passage of the bill in record time without a national roadshow and consensus indicate legislative arbitrariness. That the will of Tinubu to change the anthem became the work of NASS only goes to show the level of absolutism of the presidency in the power equation of Nigeria .

Nevertheless, this does not change the fact that PBAT is an illegitimate president of Nigeria . Rather that bother about the anthem , NASS could jolly well focus on calling out PBAT to explain the circumstances of his arrest and indictment for drug money and exposure of his parade of forged degree .

It’s a pity that this anthem has generated controversy. The president must have been thinking of changing the anthem before he assumed office. The question is what’s in a song? What’s in the old song? Why should changing a song impede development? All the changes can be going on pari passu. As you change anthem, you change the style of governance too. You don’t release billions for Mecca. That money will enrich Saudi Arabia and reinfibr the idea that you must travel to see your Maker somewhere. You don’t allow NASS to buy brand new SUVs. You don’t allow the citizens to be hungry and be unsure of their future. If all the corrections are made, nobody will notice that an anthem has been changed. Change is both physical and spiritual. But balance is key.

If PBAT is using return to the Independence Anthem to test the waves of Nigeria's waters before plunging into the main substance of returning to the Independence/Republican Constitution [as will be amended] #Me and my friends of core federalist persuasions are right there with him, no shaking. He might even end up the hero of Nigeria's history. If however, PBAT is indulging himself with recourse to assuaging his personal nostalgic caprice and interest, which is not alien to his nature from what we've seen so far, then he can rest assured that he's totally on his own. The gambit will fail. It'd be his epitaph writ-large on the tomb of history – ''He Chased Rats While His Country Burned''.

The new/old anthem is just a distraction. That the distraction of a new/old anthem was swallowed by not a few citizens that they forgot the hardship in the land was rather unfortunate. From this, it was clear Nigerians have not yet come to terms with the kind of man they have as a president, and are oblivious of what to expect from him. Quite regrettable but this kind of a scam is what Nigerians have to deal with as long as this government lasts.

One of the so-called wise men who advised that Tinubu should be allowed to spend one year in office before any assessment is done, has already put up his own distraction. The self-conceited but hypocritical bard who called a sitting president, heppopotamus/ Nebuchadnezzar and his wife sheppopotamus, was so afraid of telling his benefactor president that he disappointed and instead picked on Peter Obi. He advised that for the sins of the obidients Peter Obi should not vie for president in 2027. A country where men who are expected to be wise are foolish is indeed hopeless!
