Katsina Denies Taking聽聽Fresh Loans
Francis Sardauna in Katsina
The Katsina State Government has refuted the claim made by the Debt Management Office (DMO), which alleged that the Governor Dikko Umaru Radda鈥檚 administration has over ballooned the state鈥檚 debt profile.
A report recently published by DMO indicated that Katsina under Governor Radda, together with some other states of the federation, collected fresh loans that worsen the debt crises of their respective states.
However, the Spokesperson to Governor Dikko Radda, Mr. Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, has faulted the report in a statement he released to newsmen.
According to the statement, the Radda鈥檚 administration has preoccupied itself with repaying subsisting loans secured by previous administrations.
Mohammed maintained that not a single new loan has been collected by the present All Progressives Congress鈥 (APC), government in Katsina State under Governor Radda.
The statement reads: 鈥淭his is not to say that the state government will not borrow whenever the need arises. It could borrow to improve the lot of its people and the state in general.
鈥淎t the moment, however, there is no new loan. While we appreciate the efforts of the media in keeping the public informed about government activities, we regret any inconvenience the publication might have caused.
鈥淲e call on the media, and the members of the public to continue to support the present administration in the state in its effort to provide meaningful projects to uplift the living standard of its citizenry.鈥
