Sokoto Commends USAID State2State on Improved Budget Process

The Governor of Sokoto State, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu, has commended the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) State2State support for improving citizens鈥 engagement and participation in budget process.

Aliyu stated this at the 2024 budget consultative meetings with citizens on budget preparation and policies implementation through town hall meeting.

He also pledged his administration鈥檚 commitment to the implementation of the USAID, State2State Open Government Partnership鈥檚 (OGP) projects in the state through fiscal responsibility, accountability and transparency.

Governor Aliyu, who presided over the consultative meeting while receiving inputs from stakeholders, declared that 鈥渢his platform has become a meeting point that will sustain Sokoto State鈥檚 fiscal responsibility.

The governor said: 鈥淲e shall continue to partner with the governors forum, USAID State2State and other development partners in transparency and accountability, for the benefit of our citizens.鈥

On his part, Dr. Auwal Ahmed Musa, who spoke on behalf of CSO OGP, appreciated the governor for sustaining the visibility of Sokoto State on the global lists of Open Government Partnership (OGP).

Musa said: 鈥淎t the level of the CSOs, we are happy that the government is pursuing its 9-point agenda to the letter. It is worthy to note that USAID State2State has impacted massively on health and education in Tambuwal, Wamakko, Gwadabawa, Sokoto North and South local government areas respectively.鈥

There were goodwill remarks from development partners, the academia, and representatives of women groups, workers and people living with disability, who thanked the governor for restoring their monthly allowance.
