We are in a democratic dispensation and people should be allowed to choose from various options available to them. To encourage local manufacturers, FG should rather impose higher tariffs on the importation of foreign textiles. Those who can afford it should go for it. Monopoly kills economy and people have choices to make.
Alh Dangote, you are on your own on this. The same Dangote clamouring for this has been importing CAM vehicles for the Police instead of IVM. Practice what you preach sir. You keep on wearing Italian suits by Gucci and Carlo Pignatelli, I ve not seen Dangote wearing Ankara from Kaduna textile before ???

He likes to monopolize every sector he founds himself in. However, I did not support the smuggle of the commodity in the country as that will not be good for the textile industry. Provide enabling environment for the textile industry to thrive and watch the smuggled ones extinct. Provide the farmers with incentives and watch the imported rice dies a natural death. It goes to shows that Dangote does not know how good economy thrives. Closing the boarder to rice import does not help the country as smuggler’s continue to breach the boarders and still floats the market with imported rice and the farmers on the other hand were complaining the shortage of fertilizer and other agric loans. Food insecurity looms in the country and Dangote is busy talking thrash.

There are already laws against smuggling. The key is just enforcing it across board. The problem is corruption (bribery – which you do not know anything about, right?).

Just joking!
He obviously knows how economy works, unlike Peter Obi who wants to remove all restrictions on import
